FULL STORY: Juvenile jail for NYC girl who roasted kitten
OFFENDER: The 14-year-old accomplice of Cheyenne Cherry is unnamed in the
press because she is a juvenile in Family Court. Cherry, 17, is expected to
get a year in jail when sentenced on 9/2/09.
PLEA: Guilty to burglary and animal cruelty after killing a kitten in a
500-degree oven during an attempted burglary 5/6/09. Cherry and the
14-year-old friend ransacked Valerie Hernandez’s apartment and trapped her
kitten, Tiger Lilly, inside an activated oven. In court 7/15/09, Cherry
admitted to Judge Margaret Clancy that the younger girl put the cat in the
oven — where the animal cried and scratched before dying.
PENALTY: The New York City Law Department says the girl will spend 18 months
in juvenile jail for the May 6 death of the kitten, Tiger Lily.
